Tina was found on the side of a busy highway after being hit. She was blind in one eye and could barely see out of the other and had very few teeth. We picked her up off the street and rushed her to our local vet. We though she would be euthanized, but Dr. Garett did his magic. He said her pelvis was crushed and wanted to operate. She was always a fighter and showed amazing courage through all of this. Six weeks later he called and said she was ready to go. He did not want to send her to a local no-kill shelter because he said she would "get lost" and no one would want to adopt her. I decided to take her home and see how she got along with the Frenchie's. As you can see...she is doing great! Although she is Heartworm positive and very old, she is having the time of her life.
It's amazing what a little TLC and a good diet will do for a dog!

Macho
Macho is a 2 1/2 year old English Bulldog who came to Frenchie's Kitchen in late-August 2009 through a network of friends with the Greyhound rescue group. Most Bulldog referrals in South Texas come through us. He was living in Corpus Christi, TX and was being left outside in 100+ degree weather. He is heartworm positive and has severe ear and skin infection. We placed in a loving home where he is getting lots of TLC and able stay indoors. He has lots of new friends and is being treated for heart worms.
August 26, 2010 Rescure Report
Fresh into Rescue this week is sweetheart Alice, who was desperately in need of our help. HUGE thanks to Jose & Marlen (who recently adopted our little bullie Sandi) for pulling Alice from the shelter and taking care of her overnight. Alice's long journey to safety was arranged - thanks to ex-SPCA Officer Charlotte of Corpus Christi and our Joni in Houston - and Alice was soon in the safe hands of Grand Park Animal Clinic receiving the medical care she so badly needed. Poor Alice had been seized by Animal Control Officers from a house where she had lived in a trash-filled yard on a very short chain, neglected, emaciated and being eaten alive by fleas and ticks.

Frenchie’s Kitchen adopted a cat kennel at City of Corpus Christi Animal Control in memory of
Mark Biesen.
Mark was the demo specialist at Whole Foods Market Highland Park and had a love for cats. We are saving the life of a homeless cat in his memory.
